Steps to Setup Gmail Account to Microsoft Outlook
Before proceeding further, we suggest you follow the given steps in exact sequence to avoid error or damage. Here what you need to do to easily setup Gmail account in Microsoft Outlook. Also, we are using the 2013 Outlook version. Here how to set up it:
- Firstly, “Log In” to your Gmail account.
- Then, click on the “Gear Icon” located in the upper right corner of the screen.
- From the drop-down menu, choose Settings option.
- Now, on the next window, choose the “Forwarding and POP/IMAP” tab and confirm that IMAP status is enabled.
- After that, click on “Save Changes” tab.
- Next, launch the “Google’s Less secure apps” page and make sure that less secure apps are enabled.
- Click to open “Microsoft Outlook.”
- Subsequently, click on the “File” button.
- Then, click on the “Add Account” tab located on the Account Information page.
- On the next window, click on the “Button” appears next to the ‘Manual setup or additional server types.’
- Tap “Next.”
- Choose POP or IMAP, and then click on Next tab.
- Now, fill the requested information:
- For Incoming Mail Server, use imap.gmail.com.
- For Outgoing Mail Server, use smtp.gmail.com.
- For Account Type, select IMAP.
- For User Name, use Gmail address.
- Type your Gmail password, and ensure that the Remember Password box is checked.
- Then, click on the “More Settings” icon.
- Choose “Outgoing Server” option.
- Check mark the box which is appears next to the “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.
- Now, choose “Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
- After that, select the “Advanced” tab and type:
- For Incoming Server, type 993, and choose SSL as the encrypted connection.
- For Outgoing Server, type 587, and choose TLS.
- In the Deleted items, check the box appearing next to the “Purge items when switching folders while online.”
- Click on the “OK” button.
- Again, go back to the account information page, click on the Next option.
- Before completing the process, Outlook will test your connection.
- Click on Close followed by an OK tab.
To view your Gmail messages or mail, follow the given steps:
- Search for your Gmail email address in the left- column of the Outlook mail screen.
- Under it, click on the “Inbox” tab.
- Now, you can see all your email or messages on the screen that you normally view them in using some other accounts that you have set up in Outlook.
- Finally, you can use your Outlook to send and receive messages as you would use some other accounts.
